Oti Mabuse
Oti Mabuse is an eight-time South African Latin American Champion dancer, often regarded as one of the most successful dancers to come out of South Africa, along with her sister Motsi Mabuse.
A professional choreographer and dancer, Oti was nominated for a Broadway World UK Award for her Kiss Me, Kate choreography. She was also the choreographer of the hugely successful production of The Cher Show, her own show I Am Here, and for the Watermill’s production of Barnum.
Bursting onto our screens in 2015 as a professional Dancer on Strictly Come Dancing (2015-2021), Oti has become a popular TV personality with numerous judging positions and guest appearances. She hosted two series of the BBC Sounds podcast Oti Mabuse’s Dancing Legends, where she explores the extraordinary people who changed the course of dance.

More About Oti Mabuse
Born in Pretoria, South Africa, Oti Mabuse first studied civil engineering at University before becoming a professional ballroom dancer.
After winning her eighth Latin American Championship, she moved to Germany to broaden her dancing horizons. She achieved first place in the German Championship PD Freestyle Latin, second in the European Championship Latin, and third in the 2014 World Cup Freestyle Latin.
Oti Mabuse Professional Dancer
Before joining Strictly, Oti had been a professional dancer on the German version of the show, Let’s Dance (2015-2016). But it was joining the professional cast of Strictly that she really began to shine. She took part in series 13 through series 19 and became the only professional to win in consecutive years – firstly in 2019 with actor Kelvin Fletcher and then in 2020 with Comedian Bill Bailey. She also placed second in series 14 with actor Danny Mac.
Since leaving Strictly, Oti has gone on to judge reality shows, including The Greatest Dancer (2019-2020) alongside singer Cheryl and actor Matthew Morrison, The Masked Dancer UK (2021), Dancing on Ice (2021-), and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK (2021).

She has also become a popular TV personality, guest starring on Celebrity MasterChef (2019), Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel (2020), This Morning (2019-2020), Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway (2021), The Big Narstie Show (2022), The Jonathan Ross Show (2021-2022), Celebrity Gogglebox (2019-2022), Loose Women (2018-2022), and Between the Covers (2021).
She entertained the nation’s children during lockdown with her CBeebies’ show Boogie Beebies, has hosted the ITV show Romeo and Duet, and took on the 2023 Comic Relief’s Challenge Frozen. In 2023, she hosted the ITV weekend morning show, Oli Mabuse’s Breakfast Show.
She has also become more interested in her background and family history. She presented the documentary Oti Mabuse: My South Africa in 2022 and appeared in ITV’s long-running ancestral show, DNA Journey (2023), along with her sister.
Oti Mabuse Children’s Author
Oti has published a series of successful children’s books focussed on learning to dance. There’s Dance with Oti: The Bird Jive (2021), Dance with Oti: The Lion Samba (2022), and Dance with Oti: The Penguin Waltz (2023), with Dance with Oti: The Turtle Tango due out in 2024. Each book in the series contains an easy-to-follow step-by-step guide on how to do each ballroom dance with some unexpected and furry guests.
Alongside her husband, Marius Iepure, and musical theatre producer Paul Taylor-Mills, Oti runs the Oti Mabuse Dance Studio, providing a 4,000-square-foot dance floor for individual dancing and classes.
