As the founder of Wonder Women TV, Ria Hebden is front and centre when it comes to discussing diversity and the inclusion of women in the media. Through this, she produces a podcast with the same title, where she has interviewed CEO Steph Douglas, TV Commissioning Editor Sarah Asante, MD Angela Ferreira, and Screenwriter Kay Mellor, amongst many others. She also produces Wonder Women Live!, an annual event held on International Women’s Day, which brings creative women together. Wonder Women TV provides a mentoring programme, empowering the next generation of diverse female leaders in television and other creative industries.
And she’s certainly walking the walk, lighting up our screens whilst fronting the BAFTA award red carpet coverage, speaking at the royal UK premiere of Top Gun Maverick, and hosting the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity highlight shows.
On TV, she can often be seen presenting the outside segments for ITV’s This Morning, and appearing on entertainment shows I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here – The Daily Drop, and BBC2’s Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two. As well as interviewing the ‘everyday’ person, Ria is a confident interviewer of A-list celebrities, including Sandi Toksvig, Ruby Wax, Kim Cattrall, John Boyega, and Idris Elba.
Her hard work has seen her nominated for several awards, including the New Talent award at the 2019 Women in Film and Television Awards, the Best Presenter award at the 2020 New Voice Awards, and a 2020 Black British Business Award.
In addition to her media work, Ria is an ambassador for the MAMA Youth Project, which recruit and train young people from underrepresented groups, and for Lupus UK; a mentor for The Media Trust, mentor of the Women in Film and Television Network, and a member of BAFTA.
Ria is becoming a popular choice to host events, provide keynote speeches, and moderate panels. Her credits include the Royal Television Society Award shows, the Jack Petchey Foundation, BAFTA, RTS Futures, and the Media Production Show.
