BBC Gardeners World presenter Frances Tophill travelled almost the length of the country recently for an action-packed weekend of activities to an eager bunch of customers for a large family-run garden centre.
Marketed and advertised well in advance the garden centre events manager organised a wide array of activities from talks to Q+A sessions and workshops, some aimed directly at children. Encouraging children outdoors and into the garden is something Frances feels very passionate about and the kids loved potting out plants and getting green fingers with her alongside mentoring.
Frances completed her Horticulture with Plantsmanship degree at SRUC Edinburgh in 2013 and has quickly risen to one of the young generation of gardenings top stars.
Aside from TV’s Gardeners World, she was one of the co-presenters of ITV’s Love Your Garden alongside Alan Titchmarsh, David Domoney and Katie Rushworth. David and Alan are also in the Great British Speaker team. Frances‘ first book, First Time Gardener, was published in 2015 and her 2nd book, The Container Gardener was published in April 2017.
