Our corporate events calendar is also here to provide you with inspiration on ways you can help motivate your audience and/or employees this year.

Some of the biggest events on the Awareness Days calendar include International Women’s Day (March 8th) and  Black History Month  (October) – both of which have become pivotal events for raising awareness of equality, inclusion and diversity concerns within society, and within the workplace more specifically.

We also focus on the importance of Mental Health, with World Mental Health Day (10th October) and Mental Health Awareness Week (15th-21st May), as well as International Men’s Day (November 19th), which is a powerful reminder for men to take care of their own health and mental wellbeing.

Why is Movember Important?

Movember is an annual event, that takes place every November.  The event involves growing of moustaches to raise awareness of men’s health issues.

By encouraging men to grow moustaches, Movember aims to increase early detection, better knowledge and improved treatment of things such as prostate and testicular cancer, mental health issues and men’s suicide.

Since its inception, Movember has raised over £400 million thanks to almost 7 million “Mo Bros” taking part – not bad considering there were only 30 participants the first year.

Facts!

  • 1 in 4 men admit to never having checked themselves for testicular cancer
  • Almost half of all men regularly forget to check themselves for testicular cancer
  • 47% of men with a mental health problem have never raised it in the workplace
  • Men account for ¾ of UK deaths by suicide
  • Globally, on average 1 man dies of suicide every minute of every day
  • Men are dying on average 4.5 years earlier than women thanks to largely preventable/treatable reasons such as prostate or testicular cancer, and mental health difficulties

Find the best Movember Mens Health Speakers

Over the past decade, the highest suicide rates each year have been in working-age males. It is vital that employers create a safe workplace to provide their staff with the best mental and physical health support possible. We have a large team of male mental health speakers who are willing to share their stories about mental health, suicidal thoughts, and physical illness such as cancer.

Featured Speaker – Clive Branson | Super Movember Mens Health Speakers

The last few years have been an astonishing period for Clive Branson, who’s no stranger to the isolation mental and physical health can bring.

Having been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2017 and Prostate Cancer a year later, Clive has battled more than most. And although the last five years have been rather eventful for Clive and his family, his own philosophy now is a simple one – to not allow daily challenges to define him.  Today, Clive’s mission is to actively demonstrate that we do have the ability to overcome adversity. Resilience, Hope and Positivity are crucial words in his vocabulary, and the next chapter of his life will be met with stoicism and a smile.  Clive is the epitome of an ‘inspirational speaker.’
