GBBO baking legend cooks up a storm – book Mary Berry at Great British Speakers

More about Mary Berry

Mary began her career as the cookery editor of Housewife Magazine and later, Ideal Home magazine in the 1960’s. However, her first television appearance was not until the 1970’s were she appeared on Afternoon Plus with Judith Chalmers as resident cook.

Mary is commonly associated with the BBC and gained further popularity as a judge on their iconic amateur baking contest. The Great British Bake Off and its spin-off Junior Bake Off. She also appeared as a judge on the Comic Relief special Comic Relief Bake Off (BBC1). She also took the show overseas, presenting The Great American Baking Show for NBC.

Earlier this year, Mary presented her own six-part series Mary Berry Everyday (BBC2). She also wrote a cookbook to accompany the show. The book features some of her most loved recipes developed throughout her career. Mary also filmed another series for the BBC, Mary Berry’s Secrets from Britain’s Great Houses.

Mary has also filmed from her own kitchen and launched the successful Aga Workshops. It’s an at-home cookery school which has over 12,000 students enrolled. To date, she has written over 80 cookbooks and sold over 6millon.

Away from baking, Mary is a Patron of the Child Bereavement Trust. An Ambassador for the RHS and President of the National Garden Scheme. She has won numerous awards including Good Housekeeping Award for Food Book of the Year and an NRTA for Best Television Chef.

Mary was honoured with a CBE for services to culinary arts. She recently won Best TV Judge at the National Television Awards.
