Adam Thomas is a Manchester-born actor and presenter best known for playing the role of Adam Bartin in the ITV soap opera Emmerdale (2009-18), and Donte Charles in Waterloo Road (2006-present).
His big breakthrough came in 2006 aged just 17 when he joined Waterloo Road as Donte Charles, a role he has since reprised since 2023.

Best known for starring in Emmerdale, Adam Thomas joined the soap in 2009 where he played Adam Bartin until 2018. He has also starred in Casualty (2004-08), Doctors (2002-09), Moving On (2019), and Pitching In (2019). As well as acting on screen, Adam starred at the Empire Theatre in the 2018 stage production of Nativity The Musical.

He also presented the I’m a Celeb spinoff, I’m a Celebrity…Extra Camp in 2019.
Adam is of English, Indian, and Caribbean heritage; his paternal great-grandmother was a West Indian with Caribbean ancestry, and his paternal grandfather was from Mumbai in India.
In 2020, Adam starred in the six-part ITV series Absolutely India: Mancs in Mumbai, alongside his brothers Ryan and Scott, and their late father Dougie, where they visited India to learn more about their heritage.
As well as his television work, Adam is a prominent voice on our radio waves, and currently co-hosts Mancs on the Mic podcast with his brothers, talking about childhood memories and embarrassing moments. He also co-hosts the Waterloo Road podcast.
Adam is also a successful restaurateur and entrepreneur, launching a range of products including hot sauces, that are now old under the label ‘Oh My Glaze’ at the Trafford Centre.
As well as being a popular actor and TV Personality, Adam has been very public about his and his twin brother Ryan Thomas’ historic alcoholism.
