Charlie Lamdin – best known for his YouTube series Moving Home With Charlie, is a commentator on the housing market, specifically concerning economic and political issues.
He is a regular online broadcaster to his more than 43,000 followers across all social media platforms, providing insights into moving house, whether that be via renting or buying. His main aim is to uncover the truth about the property market to help those experiencing homelessness.
He is comfortable providing keynote speeches in any environment about the property market.
By his own admission, Charlie Lamdin did not have an overly positive school experience. He left Charterhouse school after experiencing bullying and was expelled from Stowe school. He may not have had the best qualifications, but he managed to get a trainee job in the London financial markets. After three years, his job was terminated, lighting the fuse that would go on to be his 30-year journey of self-employment.
He has since founded four companies: Datography, a one-stop-shop for London estate agents, and then the competitor BPM Media. Sadly, the 2008 financial crisis put a stop to BMP, and so he started I.T company, Easymatch Ltd, where he is still the Managing Director.
He says that over two decades of “repeated failures and shaftings from investors, partners and clients” helped him found BestAgent.co.uk, a property website that aims to make buying a home simpler and provides insights into the property and estate agent industries.
His Moving Home With Charlie videos have been hugely popular and have covered topics such as investment, house prices, first-time sellers, estate agents, and homelessness. Through his videos, he aims to help bring about the end of homelessness. Charlie believes that if we can merge the property industry’s resources into charity and government operations, homelessness numbers will reduce, and the industry’s reputation will grow.
Whilst his main domain is his online YouTube channel – where he has over 2,000 followers – Charlie has written for publications such as The Sunday Times and The Telegraph and has spoken on The Right Move? The Property Podcast about fairness in the housing market, homelessness and industry secrets.
Charlie has a plan to help bring about the end of homelessness, by bringing the property industry’s vast resources into the mix alongside government and charity. Not as a charitable venture, but by treating homelessness as part of the business operations of the home moving sector, in a way that reduces new homelessness, improves industry reputation and staff morale. The first step is a rent guarantee scheme offered to help people out of homelessness, especially temporary accommodation, into the private rented sector. Shortage of available housing is proving the biggest obstacle. Dorset Council has changed their policy as a result of Charlie’s efforts and are now providing rent guarantees to young people coming out of the care system.
Whenever people discover that we home-school our kids, the reaction is always the same: “Why?” The answer is lengthy, the reasons are numerous. So I recorded this video for you…
Outside of the property industry, Charlie is a seaplane pilot, cyclist, drummer, filmmaker, and home-schooler to his children.
