Away from comedy, David has proved himself as an actor, starring in BBC1’s Agatha Christie series ‘Partners In Crime’, as Frankie Howerd in the biopic ‘Rather You Than Me’ for BBC4, and on the stage in Harold Pinter’s ‘No Man’s Land’.
He received the Comedy Award at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards for his performance as Bottom in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ directed by Michael Grandage.
Since 2012 David has sat as a judge on the hit ITV show ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ bringing his unique brand of charm to the panel.
As an author, David is one of the most popular writers for children today. His books have been translated into forty-six languages, and he’s sold over eight million worldwide. Several of his books have been adapted for film and TV, with Gangster Granny showing on the prime Boxing Day slot.
David’s tireless charity work has gained him several awards, including Pride of Britain Award for The Most Influential Public Figure’ after he swum the Channel for Comic Relief. David also swam the Thames, garnering the real support of the public after rescuing a drowning dog along the way!
