Whilst we would come to know Faye Barker as a TV Presenter, she started her career behind the scenes, first as a runner for CNBC and then assistant producer and writer of their business news. Following her shifts, she would often be found in an empty studio practising reading an autocue.
She would then go on to move to ITN, first starting as a journalist before hosting 5 News when she was just 24 years old. She has since reported for ITV Yorkshire’s news programme Calendar (2001), Package Holiday Undercover for ITV, and narrated the documentary series St Jimmys. She has presented for Santana Sports News, GMTV (2010) and Daybreak (2011-2012), and has reported live on breaking news stories such as the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami, unrest in the Middle East and concerns about taxi safety. She is also a go-to interviewer, questioning people such as Michael Heseltine, Mo Farah and Russell Crowe.
Faye is a popular choice to host large events, provide keynote speeches, host debates and present at award shows. She has presented for Randstad, the English National Ballet School, Totaljobs and Middlesex University, and at the International Broadcasting Convention in 2006.
Faye likes to use her platform to raise awareness for multiple charities. In 2018, Faye teamed up with over 20 celebrities – including presenter Laura Tobin, quizzer Anne Hegerty, actors Kara Tointon and Lionel Blair, and auctioneer Charlie Ross – to release a Christmas single, raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital. She would team up with them again – this time alongside the likes of singer Sam Bailey, presenter Richard Arnold and sportsman Frank Bruno – raising money for The Alzheimer’s Society and Action for Children. Both singles would go on to reach number two in the charts.
Her vast experience and skills mean Faye is a trusted presenter, event host and speaker, confident in talking about breaking news stories and her career and interests.
