Katherine Sayers, known as Goldie, is a record-holding British javelin thrower. At the 2012 London Grand Prix, she threw 66.17m using the newly designed javelins – a record that still stands today.
A lover of all sports – as a child, she was a national table tennis champion and played netball, hockey, and tennis.
Now an in-demand sports speaker, Goldie knows how to motivate audiences to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

As well as winning countless medals, Goldie Sayers was the captain of the GB Women’s under-20 javelin team, a member of the board of directors for the British Athletes Commission, a board member of the British Olympic Association, broke the European and World Championship throws, and won 5 national and 10 British titles.
Her Olympic medal came a whopping 11 years after her javelin throw. Originally placed fourth at the 2008 Beijing Games, Russian athlete Mariya Abakumova tested positive for a doping offence and was disqualified, which saw Goldie move up into third place, winning her the bronze medal.
She wanted to better this result at the 2012 London Games, but sadly an injury to her arm prevented her from qualifying. Following elbow surgery, she began training heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson.
Since leaving professional athletics, Goldie has been a familiar face on our television screens, commentating for the sport on BBC Sport, BBC News, Channel 5, and Sky Sports.
Since 2017, she has been the Director of Athlete Property Investment Ltd, a business which offers low-risk investment returns on commercial and residential properties. Goldie has been a landlord herself for over 15 years and has developed a portfolio worth over £4 million across England.

Goldie is bright, articulate, has a great story to tell and is very funny. The audience were clearly inspired by her story and were able to take the messages about confidence, determination and attitude and apply that to their own professional personal lives. This was made possible by the way Goldie cleverly related her key messages to our business environment. Enabling that transition made her talk relevant and real to everyone in the room. There is business values in a good motivational speaker like Goldie and I wouldn’t hesitate to use her again.
