It has established itself as a renowned education brand with affordable, accessible, and inclusive online tutoring for all, first in Africa and now with a growing community of educators and learners internationally.
Before launching Edukoya, Honey was the founder and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Kuda, a UK digital-first bank for African communities. Kuda has successfully provided Africans with the tools to make better financial decisions and create their own financial freedom in an economically sound and sustainable way. Honey led the team that saw Kuda reach millions of customers in less than two years.
In 2014 Honey founded Fashpa.com, a fashion e-commerce platform that was the first of its kind in West Africa. Fashpa.com was ground-breaking in addressing the increasing market appetite for African customers to have a wide range of fashion retailers at their fingertips.
It pioneered a new technology-led era in Nigeria’s fashion industry, closing the gap between Africa and other international fashion retailers. The platform connects global buyers to small and medium sized fashion brands and artisans across Africa. Honey is widely recognised as the pioneer of fashion online retail in Nigeria and is one of the leaders shaping Africa’s technology sector.
Earlier in her career Honey worked as an Industry Manager for Google, at Mckinsey & Co in Brussels, headed up brand management for Ericsson in Sub Saharan Africa and also worked as a brand manager for Ericsson in Sweden.
In 2021, Honey was appointed the Founding Country Director UK—Nigeria Tech Hub for the UK Government’s Department of Digital, Media, Culture and Sport (DCMS), where she built partnerships and secured investment opportunities between the UK and African tech ecosystems.
In 2018, Honey was appointed to the Facebook SME Council for Nigeria. In 2016, the World Economic Forum listed her as one of the top 10 innovators in Africa and one of the 10 most influential young Nigerians under 40 in Technology. In 2014, Forbes listed her as one of the Top 10 women emerging entrepreneurs to watch in Africa. She has also been recognised as a One Young World Ambassador and a Junior Achievement Nigeria Ambassador and mentors and leads various women in tech initiatives.
