Ian Stone is one of the best travelled comedians on the scene, headlining gigs in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, entertaining troops in Kuwait, Bosnia and Afghanistan, performing on the final transatlantic crossing of the QE2 ship, performing at the Canadian Yul-Yuk clubs, compered in South Africa and becoming one of the first British stand-ups to perform in Moscow.

Ian is a popular face on our TV screens, most known for presenting Off the Ball (2013) for ESPN, a weekly comedy sports panel show, before it moved to BT Sports the following year and was renamed The Football’s On. The programme has seen Ian introduce guests including Alan Davies, Lee Mack, Omid Djalili, David Baddiel, Romesh Ranganathan and the late Sean Lock.

As well as his hosting duties, Ian has been a guest himself on the likes of Mock the Week (2006-2007), Never Mind the Buzzcocks (2002), Saturday Live (1996), The 11 O’clock Show (2000) and Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled (2017).

He is also a familiar voice on the radio, being a regular guest on Radio 5 Live’s Fighting Talk and The Gabby Logan Programme, Radio 4’s Political Animal, Radio 2’s Hot Gossip presented by Claudia Winkleman and Absolute Radio’s Rock n Roll Football alongside Ian Wright. It was this football show that earned them a Sony Silver Award in 2012 and an Arqiva Commercial Radio gold award in 2015. He has also presented Christmas Up the Front (2010) about his time performing for troops in Afghanistan, the critically acclaimed football radio documentary Football’s Home Fans (2012) and the follow-up, Football’s Loyal Fans (2013) and the breakfast show on LoveSport Radio.

Ian was also a co-founder of the Alan Davies Arsenal podcast It’s Up For Grabs Now (renamed The Tuesday Club), and after just 50 episodes, became one of the top-rated sports podcasts in the country with an average of 60,000 downloads a week.

As well as his comedy skills and hosting duties, Ian has written for the Official Arsenal Magazine in 2011, as well as gaining writing credits for Russell Howard’s Good News (2009-2015), You Cannot Be Serious (2012), The Omid Djalili Show (2007) and Alistair McGowan’s Big Impression (2000-2005).

In 2010, he released his debut book, To Be Someone. Ian describes it as his “sort of autobiography”, documenting his teenage obsession with The Jam and how the band helped Ian to grow up amid the turbulence of Britain in the 1970s and 1980s.
