James Hardy
James Hardy is a leading authority on ecommerce, online growth strategies, and retail globalisation, and works with a range of brands to futureproof their online expansion.
He is currently the Head of Global Retail and Marketing Development at Flutterwave, Africa’s largest Fintech. He has previously worked in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, co-founded the UK’s largest China-ecommerce exporter, and as an expert consultant.
He is now a regular contributor to the press, appearing in publications including The Financial Times, and on the BBC. He is a prominent keynote speaker and consultant, advising companies of all sizes in a range of industries.

James Hardy holds a number of qualifications, including a qualification in Common Law from the Chester College of Law, sat a Legal Practice Course from the London College of Law, and a MBA in Business from the Melbourne Business School.
His career started in the world of law, working as a solicitor for Mishcon de Reya, and Travers Smith, a legal advisor for Next 15, and general counsel for Bite Communications, and Text 100 (where he worked with the likes of Adobe, Blackberry, British Airways, Cisco, IBM, MTV, Skype, and Xerox).
He has since worked on international ecommerce strategies for multiple companies, identifying how brands can maximise their value to external, private, and public markets. He was Head of EMEA Region for Alibaba.com, a Non-Executive Director for Atosho, and consultant for Titán Panamá, and Stitch Fit. In 2015, he co-founded Avenue51 where he worked with a range of European consumer oriented e-commerce businesses entering the Chinese e-commerce market.
He is currently the Head of Global Retail and Market Development for Flutterwave, and is responsible for consumer and SME revenues globally.
He has frequently contributed to a range of media, including China Daily, The Financial Times, Huffington Post, The Guardian, and The Telegraph.
