Jen Benson is a runner, writer and certified ultra running coach. She has completed more than 50 marathons and ultramarathons, as well as the UK Ironman triathlon.
Jen Benson is a qualified podiatrist, having gained a first class degree in podiatry and also has a master’s degree in sport & exercise medicine.
Jen is currently working on a PhD exploring psychology and philosophy in running and writing her next book about ultra-running and the history of women runners.
Together with her husband Sim, Jen has written and photographed ten books on walking, running and outdoor adventures. Jen has also written extensively for the national press, Trail Running magazine, Runner’s World magazine and is a resident expert at Women’s Running magazine.
In 2015, they spent a year living in a bell tent with their baby and toddler, camping across the UK in rural locations, the subject of which they wrote about in the book The Wild Year.
Jen has been interviewed many times on podcasts, sharing her inspiring story of living in a tent for a year, as well as her experience of running ultramarathons, adventures with children as well as sharing her expertise on running and completing ultramarathons.

Jen Benson met her husband Sim through their mutual love of the outdoors and have since been on many adventures together, including the Devon Coast to Coast Extreme adventure race (140 miles by bike, foot and kayak in 21 hours).
