Jeremy Bowen is a journalist with a vast knowledge and experience of the Middle East. From 1995-2000, he was based in Jerusalem as the BBC’s Middle East Correspondent, winning awards from television festivals in New York and Monte Carlo, as well as a Best Breaking News report from the Royal Television Society on the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin.
During the Kosovo crisis of 1999, he reported extensively from the region, often in dangerous conditions, which included being robbed at gunpoint by bandits whilst reporting from the Albanian border. Since June 2005 he has been working in the newly-created role of BBC Middle East Editor.
In the hit BBC podcast Our Man in the Middle East Jeremy presented a personal history of the Middle East. Over 25 episodes he reflected on the present and the past of the Middle East, after reporting from the region for more than a quarter of a century.
A seasoned war correspondent, Jeremy Bowen provides audiences with riveting anecdotes from a life reporting on the front line at some of the most fraught conflicts of the past twenty years. He has witnessed endless wars between individuals, religious groups and full-sized states, jostling for military, political and economic power.

Jeremy is a well known bowel cancer sufferer and is raising the profile of a campaign by Bowel Cancer UK for an optimal bowel cancer screening programme, in which he relates to his own diagnosis and treatment.
