Johnathan (DJ Spoony) Joseph loved the radio and took the lead presenting as the show was syndicated across the Galaxy Radio network. It was inevitable that national radio would take notice, so it wasn’t a surprise when they got the call to join Radio 1.
The Dreem Teem were regular DJ’s on Radio 1’s every Sunday between 10am-1pm for three very successful years, interviewing stars such as David and Victoria Beckham, The England World Cup Squad and Will Smith.
They were to be influential in breaking the careers of Craig David, Ms Dynamite and Daniel Beddingfield. Their inimitable style was rewarded with a Sony Award.
The Dream Teem’s tenure at Radio 1 came to an end, but Johnathan was asked to stay and promoted to host the weekend breakfast show.
The show was a big success, with Johnathan attracting many new listeners.
Johnathan (DJ Spoony) Joseph next took his love of football to Radio 5 Live and was the host of 606, the UK’s biggest weekly football phone-in show. Whilst on the show he held exclusive interviews with football manager Alex Ferguson as well as José Mourinho.
He has since appeared on some of the nations’ biggest TV shows including Top of the Pops, Strictly Come Dancing, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, A Question of Sport, Master Chef and is even a winner on Celebrity Mastermind (beating Brian Sewell).
A regular on the golf circuit Johnathan (DJ Spoony) Joseph has played at many charity events around the world raising money for many good causes and is the main fund-raiser for the Golf Roots Foundation, taking the game to inner cities.
He plays football every week and as a Liverpool fan completed a dream to play at Anfield alongside players he idolised.
