Letty Gordon-Furse, CEO of The Spring Back Guide, offers a unique blend of passion, corporate acumen, and a global perspective on why supporting working mothers and parents in general in returning to work should be integral to all diversity programmes.
With a background in people and organisational change at Ernst & Young and a track record of leading large-scale transformation projects for national and international charities, Letty brings enormous enthusiasm and depth of knowledge and insight to her role as a trusted maternity coach – running her own business for the last five years as well as raising two small children.
Her holistic approach combines cutting-edge technology with personalised coaching to support organisations in keeping this brilliant segment of the workforce using five years’ worth of maternity leave data. Letty also hosts a successful podcast, Returnity, which is rated 5.0 stars across all platforms and is listened to in 23 countries.
Letty is a popular speaker with an important message. She has recently spoken at Bloom PR, the Music Publisher’s Association and The Village.
Letty went to school before doing a French and International Relations degree at Leeds University and then a MSc in International International Business at Manchester. Her early career saw her working at Ernst & Young, Save the Children International and National Citizen Service Trust.
She has a Level 7 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring from the CMI and is a qualified Practitioner of both Neurolinguistic Programming Coaching (NLP) and Personality Typology (MBTI).
Letty feels strongly that organisations must formalise the Returnity process, which is often poorly managed. She stresses that a company’s investment into maternity is completely wasted if they expect an employee to return to work with a couple of KIT days and one settling-in week. Making women feel valued and acknowledged, providing them with the tools to go back to work happy, and recognising the enormous skills that motherhood brings to businesses will see retention rates skyrocket.
The Spring Back Guide is based on five years’ worth of notes taken by Letty from maternity leavers, where she saw the same problems coming up again and again. Notably, women stop putting themselves first, they lose their self-confidence, they don’t take the initiative in rebalancing life with their partners, and the pause in their careers has got them wondering what they’re doing with their lives. The Guide is a hybrid product that uses digital video and 1:1 coaching to provide holistic support for women returners – all the way from pre-, during, and post-maternity leave.
Letty launched her podcast Returnity in 2023 and since then has interviewed many amazing women from a variety of industries, sharing their journeys of how their professional lives and identities were all transformed – for the better – all by becoming a mum. She has also interviewed exceptional leaders of organisation that are doing great work in helping women go back to work. The podcast is rated 5 stars across all platforms and is listened to across 23 countries.
