Paul Cowland is a man with a lifelong passion for all things automotive. His small talk includes anything to do with the internal combustion process and the Wankel rotary engine which means he is rarely invited to parties.
Thankfully, his boundless enthusiasm for the industry has given him a career spanning over three decades, writing, selling, tuning, restoring, photographing, and creating almost every kind of car known to man – as well as being the go-to guy for many of the UK’s leading automotive publishers when they need an authority on such matters.
Paul Cowland is widely in demand for presenting, speaking, and hosting a wide range of international automotive events.
Having presented several prime-time ‘magazine’ shows for Eurosport and Motors TV, Paul signed to the Discovery Channel in 2014, where his unique blend of humour, sarcasm, and realistic day-rate proved to be a hit with producers. His first show – alongside mechanical marvels Dave Southall and Adam Hornby – Turbo Pickers (2014) proved to be a global hit, showcasing the more affordable end of the classic car world, picking and fixing all manner of cars ranging from the entry-level Porsche 924, through to automotive icons like the Citroen H Van.
Paul’s show Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars (2018-) on the Quest Channel and Amazon Prime, sees Paul partner up with long-term friend Drew Pritchard to buy, restore, and sell two cars each episode. They work alongside all manner of talented, small, and independent specialists along the way, and it has been a global hit, already banking six series.
Paul Cowland also joined forces with another friend, Helen Stanley, to present a series titled Motorpickers (2020-2021), where the two help people from all walks of life to find their dream used car, demystifying the world of the motor trade, and making it accessible for all.
Paul has also fronted campaigns for big names such as Subaru, Isuzu, Saab, Toyota, and Lexus, with filmed, live, and launch content and is able to work unscripted for hours at a time. He even managed a 26-hour non-stop commentary stint at the Nurburgring 24-hour race for Vodafone.
You can also hear his voice behind many automotive advertising campaigns including Halfords and Autoglym UK and you can even book Paul for your voiceover campaign at our sister site Great British Voices.
Paul Cowlandhas hosted all manner of events for a variety of clients throughout Europe, including car-giants Japfest and Trax, through to small, more provincial car club events. Paul does not mind the size of the event, more the cars and the people involved.
Paul puts his money where his mouth is and currently owns almost 60 classic and interesting cars, all in a varying state of disrepair – as well as two cats and his children.
“Professional (always)…punctual (always)…expert (genuinely knows his stuff inside and out and has covered for my lack of expertise on numerous occasions!) But, the biggest compliment from me? Paul is a big man bursting with ideas and jam-packed with positivity…a team player who makes filming fun.” – JC Megson, Series Producer, Workerbee TV – Motorpickers and World’s Greatest Cars on Discovery.
“Paul is a pleasure to work with. He is professional, punctual, and polite. Paul is always respectful of the crew and the efforts that go on behind the scenes within a production. I have enjoyed his collaborative approach on location.” – Chris Kershaw. Series Director, Salvage Hunters Classic Cars.
“Paul is an utter joy to work with. He brings infectious energy and humour to every shoot and is terrific at getting the best out of those around him. He’s always superbly well prepared and has a depth of knowledge and passion for the subject that shines bright on screen. I hope to work with him again very soon.” – John Widdup. Series Producer, Salvage Hunters Classic Cars.
