Professor Trevor Williams is an author, academic and consultant, analysing and providing insight into how politics, demographics and trade shape economies and economic trends. For 30 years he worked as an economist in the City, including ten years as Chief Economist at Lloyds Bank.

In 2018, Trevor Williams co-founded FXGuard, a consultancy specialising in economic analysis of ‘big data’ to better understand the fast changing global economy.
Trevor is a rotating Chair of the Institute of Economic Affairs’ Shadow Monetary Policy Committee Trevor, keeping a watchful eye on Bank of England decisions, analysing interest rates and monetary policy, translating them into relevant and useful intelligence that can be used to inform business strategy.
He also reveals how companies can use their own big data sets to reveal insights into the broader economy and their place within it.
Alongside his consultancy and speaking engagements, Trevor is also a visiting professor at the University of Derby and a lecturer at CASS business school and Cardiff University; editorial board member of Economia and the Journal of Corporate Treasury Management. Trevor also sits on charities, including as Patron of Reach Society, Chairman of Ballet Black, and Through the Looking Glass.
Insights on financial and market matters can be found in a number of publications, with Trevor writing a regular column in the personal finance magazine Moneyfacts, and regular articles in publications Clear Path Analysis, and Economia.
In 2014, Trevor co-authored a book titled Trading Economics, a practical guide to the statistics and indicators that underpin market economics.
